Comparison of hydrolytic activity. Equal numbers (approximately 106 CFU) of either biofilm-harvested or planktonic cells of AKS2 were separately examined for esterase activity by FDA hydrolysis. Three replicates have been used for each experiment, and the result represents the average of these three replicates. Error bars indicate standard deviation (±SD). Statistical significance between the groups was evaluated by ANOVA.
