Box plots of recovery ratios = IC/(TB − EC) × 100%. IC intracellular, TB total broth and EC extracellular for AceB, IsoaB, ProB, MethB, and Meth60. AceB: acetone; IsoaB: isoamylol; ProB: propanol; MethB: methanol with base solution 5:1 (v/v) at − 30 °C, respectively; Meth60: 60% methanol at − 30 °C. Base solution consisted of acetone: ethanol = 1:1 (mol/mol). Box plots indicated the median, as well as the first and third quartiles. The whiskers indicate the most extreme point from the first and third quartiles within 1.5 times of the distance between the first and third quartiles; points at a greater distance are indicated by circles. The four sections show the results of organic acids (a left-top), phosphorylated sugars (b right-top), amino acids (c left-bottom), and of all metabolites (d right-bottom)
