The multicomponent ring-hydroxylating dioxin dioxygenase functional system of Sphingomonas wittichii RW1 as proposed by Armengaud et al. (1998) with slight modification to compound nomenclature. NADH supplied electrons to flavoprotein reductase RedA2) which in turn transfers them through ferrodoxin (Fdx1) to the terminal oxygenase (DxnA1A2) whose function is angular oxidation of DF and DD. The metabolic products in parentheses are very unstable and undergo spontaneous transformation
