Schematic representation of the LPMOs reaction. The upper part of the figure is a model of the synergistic degradation of polysaccharide substrates by LPMO and glycosidases. Exo-glycosidases (Exo-GH) act on chain ends to generate soluble sugars. LPMOs and endo-glycosidases (Endo-GH) act on crystalline and amorphous regions within the polysaccharide chain, respectively, providing more accessible sites for exo-glycosidases. The enlarged dotted box is a schematic diagram of the action mechanism of the LPMOs. Oxidation at C1 results in the formation of a lactone at the reducing end. C4 oxidation produces a ketoaldose at the non-reducing end
